Christantus Uche Fuels Comfortable Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.
Despite entering their first-ever continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning very quickly. Without star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually guarantees them a place in the Conference League playoffs.
A further three points in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight passage to the knockout stages, particularly following a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity
This match offered a platform for some of Palace's fringe talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second game in succession.
A Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season were no match even for a largely second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were further weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg injuries.

Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple finish.
Youngster Adam Wharton went close soon after, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the official dismissed the protests.
The formerArsenal striker did not have wait long to get his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's shot had struck the post.
Shelbourne were clinging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also blazed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
