Large-scale Russian Attacks Eliminate Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have come under escalating attacks in the past few days

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were wounded while local people in eastern neighborhoods were experienced blackouts and dealt with disruption to water systems, according to municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a young boy was fatally injured in a separate aerial attack in the southeastern region in the southeastern part, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has intensified attacks on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "substantial measures" from partner nations to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What's needed is not window dressing but strong steps - from the US, the EU and the Group of Seven - in providing protection systems and applying sanctions," was stated in a public message.

Officials stated that 450 drones and more than 30 projectiles struck the country's power systems, characterizing such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were working to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles struck power facilities and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the assaults on the capital have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by city authorities.

Regional authorities said the metropolitan region came under significant strikes throughout the evening. A seven-year-old child died and multiple civilians were hurt.

The attacks succeed evenings of air raids in the region, sections of which remain under the control of invading troops.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are harder to identify.

National leaders told the media that Moscow was deliberately attempting to destroy the country's energy grid, with assaults already disrupting fuel infrastructure.

He said energy workers and authorities were bracing for additional strikes.
